The costume on this one was almost directly ripped out of the "Ultimate DC" Wizard Magazine article, but only because their idea was damn near perfect as it was and because, really, how many different ways ARE there to draw a loincloth? Just the one, right?
At least I gave her sandals and shin guards red straps so they'd look a little more similar to the original's red boots.
Okay, so here's the core of the piece...the current Wonder Woman is a flawed concept in my opinion. She's an Amazon princess with caucasian skin and blue eyes who wears a swimsuit in the colors of the American flag. Um...okay...
Now here's my idea: Same Princess Diana, only now she's a Greek warrior who actually looks like a Greek warrior. Kept the red and blue, but ditched all the white and silver for all gold, because there's just something appropriately primitive and tribal-looking about gold armor to me.
I did away with the shield and axe they gave her in Wizard and stuck with the Lasso of Truth because there are SOME parts of the concept I feel it's important to stay true to. (And because the axe looked stupid and she doesn't need a shield with her indestructible bracelets and super-reflexes.)
While I like that she looks a LOT more Greek than she normally does (seriously DC, what were you thinking?) I think that the little loincloth deal is a lot less effective (and a lot less Greek) than the old armored skirt-type deal that Greek warriors wore. Also, I think a cape would be cool, as well as useful in denoting her as the PRINCESS of a tribe of Greco-Roman soldiers. Otherwise, bloody good.
Yeah, I decided in retrospect that if I ever draw this one again, I'm changing it to a war skirt.
I think a cape would be a bit too different from regular Wonder Woman, though. Seems like something that might get in the way in battle, considering her fighting style.
to be fair I search for something and I kept pressing the -> key, and that came up, I left 1 comment to at lest some of the other ones I saw, but I forgot what I searched for though
